The University of Alberta is home to one of the largest teacher education programs in Canada and the expertise offered is invaluable.
Being a renowed reseach institution, the U of A ‘s emphasis on quality research and generous support of research development cements its’ place as a leader in the training of future teachers, teacher leaders, and superintendents.
The University of Alberta has been a pioneer in Western Canada with their recently established English and French Graduate Certificate in Educational Leadership, where both the intersection of gender and a focus on language are key areas of study.
The Alberta Teachers’ Association (ATA) represents over 40,000 teachers and teacher leaders in Alberta as the professional assoiciation for educators in all public, charter, and francophone school boards.
The ATA has a standing Women in Leadership Committee whose members represent leaders from across the province.
The ATA also has a robust research department that assists project directors in reaching school leaders across the province.
The College of Alberta School Superintendents (CASS) is the professional voice of K-12 school board leaders in Alberta.
Its mission is to provide leadership, expertise and advocay to enhance, promote and defend the success of leaders, teachers, and students. Since 2013, CASS has grown its membership by approximately 60% and is the representative body of school board leaders from all 61 public, Catholic and French school boards, 12 or 13 charter school authorities and approximately 60% of the 47 First Nations school authorities in Alberta.
It has recently established an ad hoc committee on women leaders.
Through the support of CASS, the project directors have been able to connect with school board principals and vice-principals across the province of Alberta.
